EDITORIAL

INTERNET SAFETY SHOULD BE SAFE FOR ANYONE, AND EVERYONE IN THE WORLD

Do you want someone to spy on you?
Internet safety should be safe for anyone, and everyone in the world. People are not safe on the internet because people don’t know what they’re doing on the internet; they give their all information, their name, address, age, and maiden name on anywhere on internet.

There could be a big problem that you can cause this internet issue, like there could be terrorists out there who spy’s on somebody’s websites to look for anything they want.

Identity theft is a big problem because the thieves take your name and your SS number. They take your credit card buy on what they want like a Mercedes Benz, and that’s a lot of money that you’re losing. Then you have to prove that you didn't buy it.

I believe that identity theft is still happening in the united State and some other places in the world. What I can say is make sure people are protecting their selves by the thieves who are taking your identity theft. Is not okay to steal people’s identity theft because they worked really hard to get that money. "Identity theft is a serious crime with serious consequences, and it affects several million households each year. To avoid becoming the next victim, be extremely careful with your personal information - whether you're online or off."

PROS & CONS

                                       PRO
  1. "Social networking sites allow people to create new relationships and reconnect with friends and family. Increased communication, even online, strengthens relationships.
  2. Social networking sites allow for creative expression in a new medium. They provide free messaging, blogging, photo storage, games, event invitations, and many other services to anyone with access to a computer and the Internet.
  3. Social networking sites bring people with common interests together, offer exposure to new ideas from around the world, and lower inhibitions to overcome social anxiety. People who have a difficulty communicating in person are more comfortable interacting via the Internet.
  4. 60 million Americans received help with major life issues(975 KB)  [21] (changing jobs, finding a new place to live, buying a car, and caring for someone with an illness) from people in their social networks in 2006. These people said social networking sites helped them connect with friends and experts who assisted in their decisions.
  5. 59% of students with access to the Internet (950 KB) [22] report that they use social networking sites to discuss educational topics including career and college planning, and 50% use the sites to talk about school assignments. Some parents and teachers say that using these sites helps students improve their reading, writing, and conflict resolution skills, learn to express themselves more clearly, and meet new and different kinds of students from around the world."(http://socialnetworking.procon.org/)

                                        CONS

  1. "Social networking sites entice people to spend more time online and less time interacting face-to-face. The sites offer many time wasting activities that supplant more productive activities. Teens spend an average of nine hours per week on social networking sites (950 KB) .[22]
  2. Teens growing up with these sites may not be aware that the information they post is public and that photos and text can be retrieved even after deletion. Consequences from over-sharing personal information include vulnerability to sexual or financial predators and lost job opportunities from employers finding embarrassing photos or comments.
  3. Social networking sites have no way to verify that people are who they claim to be, leaving people vulnerable to solicitations from online predators who are able to mask their true identities. In Feb. 2009, MySpace identified 90,000 registered sex offenders with profiles on the site, while Facebook declined to reveal how many were present on its site. Even if the sites agree to remove sex offenders, they cannot identify all of them or stop them from creating new accounts. [6]
  4. Social networking sites make cyberbullying, a type of bullying that occurs online, easier and more public than bullying through other online activities such as email and instant messaging. A 2009 study found that 17.3% of middle school students have been victims of cyberbullying. [7] Victims often experience a drop in grades, decreased self-esteem, and other symptoms of depression. [8]
  5. The US Marine Corps banned the use of all social media sites on its networks because the sites are "a proven haven for malicious actors and content and are particularly high risk due to information exposure, user generated content and targeting by adversaries." [9] The entire Department of Defense is considering a ban on social networking sites because of concerns over security threats and potential computer viruses".(

*KID'S USING THE INTERNET*

"Safe Surfing: Internet Safety Tips
The Internet is great and a fun way to explore.  However there are bad people out there that want to take advantage of kids. Here are some tips to be smart when surfing on the World Wide Web:
  • "Be very careful when on the Internet.  People online may not be who they say they are.
  • Never give out your real name, any personal information (like your age or where you live) when you’re in a public chat room, on an electronic bulletin board or in your E-mail messages.
  • Make up fun nicknames when you are online.
  • Never call anyone you meet on the Internet.
  • Never send anyone you don’t know a picture of yourself.
  • Never respond to messages or bulletin board items that are rude, mean or threatening, and make sure you tell an adult if you get a message like that.
  • Make sure you never give out any passwords.  People who work for the Internet will never ask for passwords.
  • Realize that everything you read or see on the Internet may not be true.
  • Never let anyone pressure you into doing something you feel uncomfortable doing.
  • Never enter an area on the Internet that charges for services without asking permission from a responsible adult first.
  • Never arrange a face-to-face meeting with any other computer user without getting a parent's permission.
  • Discuss the rules for using the Internet with your parents.  They might put restrictions on the computer to help protect you".

In Constitution Children's who are 8, 9, 10 or 11 years of age are not required to have Facebook Myspace and so on. In my opinion many of little kids use the internet, because i think is that the parent does not know about their child what their doing on the internet. what i would say is that make sure to protect your kids using these websites that are not safe for them.

Salat's Inspirational speech

Internet Free Speech

I think this is bad to put your all information websites because all information goes to the Government and they sell to anyone who needs it like your address and photos that you been posting. I mean this is dangerous to do all this stuff on Facebook, eBay ,and Myspace. The Government has a Company that works for them to see what people are doing online and what they buy online. The Government is searching for terrorists so the Government wants us to be safe. The Government follow where you go and what you do. (http://dotrights.org/)

Internet Privacy VS. Freedom of Speech

Internet Privacy is way of to make your information Private or Public , many people have their info public which means to let people see what you have been posting and also putting videos & photos in Facebook or any emails. Many people use their credit card to buy online things that they like. Just like Ebay now ebay is the most population in the USA. Freedom of Speech could say is too much of buying stuff from ebay and also too much posting.

*INTERNET ISSUE*

"MySpace is a social networking Web site that allows users to create customizable profiles containing blogs, photos, videos, and personal information. Recently, it has extended its influence outside of social networking to become a popular marketing and communication tool for politicians, activists, and those in the entertainment industry".

"Internet privacy is a very recent issue Without leaving home, online users can engage in social networking by visiting Web sites like Facebook and MySpace, or they can send e-mails to anyone around the world in a matter of seconds".

"Political analysts maintain that Barack Obama's victory in the 2008 U.S. presidential race may have been determined by a new group of voters".
